Our Sustainability Statement

Baker is committed to being an industry leader in sustainable construction practices and operations. We resolve to conserve resources, manage waste, use sustainably sourced materials, and take related measures that add value for our clients while addressing our environmental footprint. These actions are intrinsic to operating in a way that is honorable and good for our people, our clients, and the global community.

EMBODIED CARBON REDUCTION

Concrete is the most used man-made material in the world. As we explore options for reducing embodied carbon in concrete, we are focused on solutions that are not only efficient but also essentially waste-free. In the process, we consider original extraction, processing, transportation, and recycling.

BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE

As the nation’s largest concrete construction contractor, we know our work will be part of the landscape long after our projects have wrapped up. We want to leave a legacy that speaks not just to the quality of the job but to our values as well. We commit to operating in a way that reduces our impact on the environment and improves the health of the communities where we live and work.

A FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED LEADER IN SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

In 2022, the White House recognized Baker as a leader in sustainability for our partnership with the American Concrete Institute’s Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete (NEU). Through NEU, we are collaborating with other organizations to develop safe and cost-effective strategies for producing and placing more-sustainable concrete at scale.

We work closely with industry groups to reduce waste, test concrete mix innovations, and find ways to make sustainable solutions work at scale. All of our efforts aim to provide more value for our clients.
